About Our Organization


 

The Halifax Longshoremen’s Association was founded in 1907 and received the designation of Local 269 from the International Longshoremen’s Association. The ILA Local 269 operates as a labour union, supplying labour to the various stevedoring companies and longshoring operations in the Port of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Currently, the Halifax Longshoremen’s Association has 312 dues paying members. The ILA Local 269 is goverened by an Executive Board which is elected every two years.
